The CVV2 or
"Card Code" is a security feature introduced by MASTERCARD and VISA systems in order to
improve transactions security.
The CVV2 code is printed on your MasterCard and Visa cards in
the signature area of the card. It is the 3 or more letters or
numbers AFTER the credit card number in the signature area of
the card, as shown below.

This program helps
validate that a genuine card is being used during a transaction.
All MasterCard cards, both credit and debit, were required to
contain CVC2 by January 1, 1997; all Visa cards must contain
CVV2 by January 1, 2001.
